Celebrating Creative Talent

In March 2022 my beloved husband Tom Boerst lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at just 55. Tom and I lived with our 15 year old Daughter Madeline and 18 Year Old Son, Justin in Emu Plains. Both children attending Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School. We live and breathe visual and performing arts in the region.

During one of the many wonderful conversations we had over the last few weeks of his life, Tom told me that he truly enjoyed every minute we spent on film sets together.

In 2023 the inaugural StarBurst Film Festival and Filmmaking Symposium was opened by The Prime Minister’s Envoy for the Arts, the Honourable Susan Templeman MP at a VIP event also attended by Penrith MP the Honourable Karen McKeown and Deputy Mayor now Mayor of Penrith Councillor Todd Carney and receives ongoing support in kind by all parties mentioned.

In 2024 the Starburst Film Festival found a new home at Panthers, and we are thrilled to announce that the festival has received a substantially increased in-kind venue support via Club Grants for the 2025 program. Penrith City Council Mayor, The Honourable Todd Carney opened the festival in 2024 and expressed how much creative industries contribute to the Penrith LGA and how important our festival is to Penrith.

In 2025 the StarBurst Film Festival and Filmmaking Symposium will continue with a Screening and Q&A program as introduced in 2024 and we are already connecting with filmmakers for inclusion in the 2025 program.
